Definitely true.

Violence against mowers is incredibly wrong. every time i hear a story about another freak from the Netherlands who trapped his mower in a basement for 5 years and did horrible horrible things to it, it makes me sick... makes me want to beat my wife for living in such a sick world.

Anyway. I believe if your mower still has a dead man switch it is about 50 years outdated. it's sexist you see... these days it's not cool to be sexist. Sexists get me incredibly angry, make me want to hit the nearest woman, 'cause they're ALWAYS sexist. The switch is now called the dead person switch. This switch being broken usually indicates that the mower has stopped recognizing that it's rightful owner is alive. If you are the intended owner, and are still alive, then it is possible that the mower has Alzheimer's and has simply forgotten of your existence. This means that you will most likely have to buy a new mower, i mean, you cant have a mower forgetting to mow can you!! That would be disastrous!

I have this odd feeling telling me that it is not Alzheimer's. A feeling that says that your mower hates you so much, it has stopped believing in you. Usually this is obvious because you wake up with no feet and the mower is mysteriously lurking outside your door. BUT - if you do commit acts of violence towards your mower, it is possible that it is to afraid to attack you, so it just refuses to believe you exist. This is just running away from a problem and i personally don't think it is a good thing for a mower to run in any way at all.
I suggest that you accompany your mower to a series of mower counsellings and hope for the best.

In the end i believe that you will inevitably buy a new mower. And the sooner the better!

Our lawn mower stoped working yesterday, the metal wire that runs from the dead-man switch at the handle down to the engine broke somewhere inside it's tiny little tube. It's quite obvious that this is the problem, since you can squeeze the handle and the wire pulls out one end and you can see that it doesn't pull the wire on the other end.

How much does it cost to fix one of these at a shop, or how easy/cheap would it be to fix it ourselves? is this like a part that would be easily avaliable to joe public?

Okay....

You should have told me that mowing down relatives was Illegal...

I tried running down my little 6 year old nephew with my mower. He really didn't like that! how do you keep them still? i got about half way up his leg before the engine cut out, his bloody shoe clogged up the rotors. not to mention the bones... I never knew there were two in your leg! Poor little fella died from blood loss while I ran to get some more fuel. Apparently that counts as "manslaughter"

So afterwards I tried cutting the grass with Uncle Derek. The problem was that his blades just happened to be fake teeth... and just in case you haven't ever tried cutting your lawn with false teeth... it ain't easy. Anyway... the first time I realised that he really wasn't cutting properly, I tried to pull the engine back to life...pulled the wrong cord... basically now I am on sexual harassment allegations.

Last on the list of things to do with relatives that relate to mowers was run em into boulders... this story kinda gets a bit horrific... I figured that granny Harrison has lived her live for a long time. So i took her out to the quarry and started hitting rocks with her. Just little ones to start with, then we worked our way up to the massive boulders and then solid dirt walls. Her teeth were the first to go. The porcelain just shattered on the first 3 foot rock. Next was her hip. 94 year old hips really don't like being swung around by the feet. Surprisingly she survived the whole "rock hitting" ordeal. until we accidentally found out that some of the big mining equipment was a tad rusty, and pretty susceptible to falling randomly. luckily large bulldozer scoops completely cover a frail little body.

Anyways, Mowing over/with/into rocks with relatives is not a great idea. Or legal. Or completely sane.

An interesting answer... perhaps a more acurate one - replace the flywheel. Google it and I'm sure you will find some instructions.

What so did you do it twice???

and also i think i understand the problem. The rock may have found its way into the motor and could be blocking the turnover of the engine or the if the rock simply stayed in the ground it may have warped the blades. There are a few solutions to these problem. i would personally suggest buying a good mower and not running over rocks with it...it is kinda dumb if you think..... i mean did you think that the thing would cut right through???

It doesnt make much sense to me....i look after my mowers with as much love as i give my family. i mean does this mean you run your relatives into boulders? i think you need to work out some of your anger, buy a mower!
