Yardman is a brand owned by MTD (Yardman was purchased in 1975 by MTD from Montgomery Ward when they went bankrupt). Yardman however differentiate itself from other MTD products by aim to make mowing and all yard work as easy as possible. Yardman's key message is:

"Get your yardwork done and get on with your life. You enjoy your lawn. You love spending time in your yard. You just don't like doing it on a mower or behind a string trimmer. Yard-Man is here for you. We offer innovative, reliable and cost effective solutions so you can get it all done and get on with your life." - yardman

So how do they back up their message?

• Both the riding and push models have easy-start ( recoil starter ) mechanisms which doesn't sound like much but they are - really easy to start.
• They have a single height adjustment, instead of having one on each wheel.
• Yardman lawnmowers (or at least the push ones) have an a different system of collecting cuttings which reduces clogging and and an easier emptying of the bags.
• Or built in mulching
• Larger wheels to make pushing easier.
• Automatic drives (no changing gears)
• Yardman mowers also have a lot of little touches - cup holders in all their models

Common Problems

There does seem to be a few people that have experience overheating problems with yardman mowers but all in all they are good reliable mowers.
