Repair Tips for Murray Mowers
First off have a look through the mower repair tips for issues common to all mowers. Murray mower do however have a number of common problems. Heres how to fix each of them:
- Broken plastic wheels: This is the most commonly reported issue with Murray mowers, either the plastic cogs on the wheels or the whole wheels deteriorate. It seems most people every few years need to replace a wheel. Amazon has them for about $15-$20 (here
if your interested). If you have a look at the first of the pictures you can see a new wheel front and back with a the plastic cogs on the inside all intact. To replace them is pretty easy. Your mover will probably look something like the third picture. On the center plastic disk you can see a little segment (nut cover) that pops off. Get a flat head screwdriver and pop it off. Underneath you should see a nut. Undo the nut. If it's stuck use some WD40
and leave it overnight and/or tap it with a hammer. Pull off the old wheel, put the new one on and replace the nut (use a new nut if you had trouble getting the old one off). Then put on the new nut cover and you are good to go.
- Leaking Fuel Tanks:
- Broken Belts:
While these do seem like big problems, all brands have some issue and these are small in the scheme of thing and Murray's customer service is report to be much better than most.
