Ferris Lawn Mowers
History of Ferris
Ferris's early days ( around 1900!) started in Milking Machines continued successfully in that roll for about 80 years. Due to some market factors they decided to branch out and try their hand at mowers. And in 1987 released their first walk behind lawn mower differentiating from the market by being 'hydrostatically' driven and then introducing suspension to make mowing more comfortable and faster.
In 1999 Simplicity Manufacturing purchased Ferris Industries bring Ferris's quality together with Simplicities R&D and sales to create a powerful force and grew from there. Since then they have produced several items that make them stand out in the market
- Zero Turn Mower
- The only hydrostatic driven walk behind mower on the market.
In 2004 Briggs & Stratton purchased Simplicity (along with Snapper and Giant-Vac) in order to 'give Ferris the resources it needs to grow'. Briggs & Stratton kept the brand and the focus on the Zero-Turn and Suspension.
Issues with Ferris
Problems with Ferris mowers are pretty few and far between and I've never heard any common issues. They are large, sturdy mowers normally picked up by professionals who know how to use and look after their equipment so once people get past the price, they are normally very happy.
